I come from a middle class family in India. My parents are into service and as a student I was expected follow their footsteps. But I didn’t. As per the norms then, you had to take up science and pursue medicine or engineering. I didn’t. I took up commerce and did my bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. It was at that time of my college days I got hooked to capital markets. I started reading about Warren Buffet, Benjamin Graham and many other famous personalities. I was also pursuing Chartered Accountancy. I still am.

I made up my mind. I’m gonna start buying stocks.

My first investment was 4 shares of HDFC bank at a price of Rs. 1900 per share. Within a few months the share touched a price of Rs 2400. I was very Happy. I regularly started reading business magazines, articles and kept up to date with news.

And now, I have invested in more than 10 companies with a long term horizon of 20-30 years.

And I’m gonna keep going.
